Food and drinks in Hatori

My boyfriend and I have stayed at a total of 4 hotels in Japan but Hatori was our most favorite one. We read reviews saying the hotel looks old with old carpet, but honestly its really charming! We got the buffet breakfast one day and everything was so delicious -- the curry, fried fish, vegetables. We have tattoos so we weren't able to go to the public bath but we did have an open air bath in our room which we loved!! The amenities are so great too. I love that we got to choose our own yukata and there are free drinks (coffee, tea, house kombucha) for after you bathe. The vending machines are the best too, with water, tea, coffee and alcohol too! We also got in room massages which was great. The staff is super nice too, helpful, and very good at English! I forgot my key in my room once and they were super kind to help me out! The location is good because there are some eating spots around -- just be mindful that most of them do not have an English menu (pointing at Google review photos was helpful for us). Lawson is the only conbini around maybe a 10-15 minute walk. We really miss our stay here as it made our first Japan trip so memorable! Can't wait to come back again and try out the kaiseki meal in the room too!

Nearby landmark, Property Building in Hatori

Staff were very friendly despite speaking limited English. We had the suite with an open air bath tub, the tub filled up quite quickly considering the size, nice view over the city. Breakfast was fantastic, early though, 7-9am. Onsens were nice and clean. Had a massage too, was fantastic. We booked in advance their transfer service between the station and hotel, service was on time and friendly

Restaurant/places to eat in Hatori

I booked a room that doesn't come with a bathroom so I thought there might be a sharing bathroom for the guests to use. Apparently not lol. The room comes with a small toilet, yukata, TV, separate seating are. The room is cosy though. It has a souvenir shop so you can get some of the local souvenirs easily.

Beautiful hotel. Located about 10min walk from the central square with the public bath houses. I loved getting to stay in the Japanese style apartment. The snacks and green tea in the lounge area was very nice. The onsen is smaller and has fewer skin products than their sister hotel, Rurikoh, but still very nice and clean. I had a facial, foot massage, and back massage and loved all of them. The staff were all excellent, and very helpful. I highly recommend getting the buffet breakfast, it was delicious.

Dinner, Food in Hatori

The shuttle picked us up from bus station. Our room was quite large and traditional. The dinner was really good, quite the experience. Our waiter was so nice and helpful and spoke English pretty well.

Considering the fact that the hotel is located in a very remote part of the town, we were surprised and impressed by the scale of the hotel which is massive. We love the traditional design of the entire premise and the rooms were just so pleasantly setup with full comfort in mind for the guests. The hotel also have many staffs around to help with anything we need. Most of them speak good English so it was easy to communicate with them. We booked for the kaiseki dinner which was surprising good and comes with really quality food. Also a great value for money meal considering the quantity of the food being served. Also like the drum performance and the in house onsen facilities. Overall we truly enjoy the short stay at the hotel!

Breakfast in Hatori

A traditional style ryokan in what I believe is the loveliest town in the region! There's a great jazz bar down the road (apparently the best place for live music in the region), and cute shopping during the day. Yakitori and bakeries in this area are some of the best I've tried too. I think this area is super underrated and it was such a gem to discover it.

Facade/entrance, Restaurant/Places to Eat in Hatori

The property is lovely and spacious and although appears a little old it holds up well for value for money. Lovely Japan aroma as you walk in. Onsen facilities are great, outdoor garden could receive some care.

Food in Hatori

delicious breakfast and beautiful selection of public baths available. the hotel also provided helpful info on food options nearby and the free shuttle to and from the train station was convenient. Room was ample and spacious; you can tell that it is slightly old but it did not affect our experience. though we slept in a tatami room on the floor, it was the best sleep I had on the trip, very comfy bedding.
